The "black dragons" which fell to Earth billions of years ago *died a long time ago*, essentially, but thanks to the DNA of all life on Earth, they can live through *us*, forever. This reminds me of Lovecraft's story "The Shadow Out of Time".
We're just about wrapping up Episode 4 'Battling the Sea Beast' of the 1936 Flash Gordon serial. Ep ends on or around 4/21-22 which also coincides with the annual Lyrid meteor shower.

Aura struggles with Zona over a key to release Flash from a flooding chamber where he is battling an 'octosak' (and another attepted Flash execution. - 'Key' strike is notable, as the Baltimore bridge collapse occurred at the beginning of this 'episode' pm 3/26.
Zarkhov communicates with Earth - and is interrupted by Ming.
Zarkhov hints to Ming at a new 'ray' he's developed. - Not sure how to read this one.
Aura destroys the magnetic controls the air and that protect Kala's underwater city. - The city is flooded and destroyed. - Dubai flooding.
Dale spends most of the episode a prisoner of the shark men, in a very hospital room-like setting. - Kate Middleton Cancer?
Cliffhanger ending had Flash, Dale, Thun and Aura trapped in the flooding city.
Up next: Episode 5 'The Destroying Ray': Flash, Dale, Aura and Thun escape from the underwater city, but are captured by King Vultan and the Hawk Men. Dr. Zarkov befriends Prince Barin, and they race to the rescue.
